Home / Retail

The same system behind twenty-one different counters.

From a single convenience store to a multi-branch group, on one product file and one back office.

An EPOS system for UK retail shops

A retail counter has a particular shape to its day. A queue that has to keep moving, a product file in the thousands, restricted lines that carry a legal duty, deliveries that arrive mid-shift, and a cash-up that has to tie out before anyone goes home. Everything below is built around that day rather than adapted to it.

The queue keeps moving

Scanned lines, weighed lines and manual keys on one screen. The basket holds while you serve someone else, so a price check does not stop the till. More on the till software.

Age checks that stand up

Challenge 25 stops the sale rather than reminding the operator, and the refusal is recorded against a named person. Six months later it still reads properly.

Stock you can account for

Purchase orders, deliveries, spot checks and branch transfers, with margin recalculated when a cost moves. More on stock control.

Cash up every shift

Numbered sessions with their own float, not one Z-read at closing. A shop that runs three shifts a day gets three cash-ups that each tie out on their own.

Everything else

The other eighteen.

Same till, same back office. What changes is which part you lean on. Groups of two shops or more should start at multi-branch retail; anything with a specialist product file starts at specialist retail.

Convenience Store

The shop the system was built in. Multiple shift ends a day, scratchcard packs, age checks and a product file that runs to thousands of lines.

  • Three cash-ups a day, each against its own float
  • Challenge 25 stops the sale, not just the operator
  • Scratchcard pack entry lands in the same session take

Questions

What retailers ask first.

What does a retail EPOS system cost?

£399 for the complete hardware bundle with our card processing, £59 a month per till for standard retail software, and a flat 1% on UK debit and credit cards. Every figure is itemised on the pricing page, and there is no minimum term.

Will it work with my existing barcodes and product file?

Yes. We import your product file before the till arrives, barcodes included, so you are not keying thousands of lines. If you are coming off another system we take the export from it — see how switching works.

Does the till keep working if the broadband goes down?

It keeps selling. The till holds the product file locally, so scanning, pricing and cash sales carry on. Card payments need the network, and the sales sync back to the back office when the line returns.

Can I run more than one shop on it?

Yes. Central pricing, per-shop reporting and transfers between branches are part of the system rather than an upgrade. Multi-site and enterprise covers how it is set up.

Do you handle weighed lines?

Yes, on the same screen as barcoded ones. Loose fruit, deli counters, pet feed and pick-and-mix all price per kilo from a connected scale, and they report alongside everything else.
