We build for the FTSE 100
and for the corner shop.

The same engineers do both, which is the only reason a shop can buy what it buys from us.

What the company actually does

AVS Digital Ltd writes software for other people and software for itself. The first kind ends up running inside FTSE-100 energy businesses and global IT-services firms, some of it directly and some of it through partners. The second kind is our own products, and epos-365 — the till system this website is about — is one of them.

That combination is the whole point rather than a coincidence. A corner shop gets offline-first trading, a nightly supplier price pipeline, integrated card payments and a multi-site back office for £59 a month because the people building it spend the rest of their time on systems where those things are simply expected. Very little of it was built for the retail price.

How we work

There is no support tier and no ticket queue: whoever answers a customer knows the software, because they work on it. We publish our prices, we say in writing what is not built, and we answer every day of the year. None of that survives a company where the people who build the product never speak to the people using it, so we do not run one.

What you would work on

  • The till software that runs on the counter, offline first, in a shop that cannot stop trading.
  • The web back office — purchase orders, stock, promotions and reporting.
  • The supplier price file pipeline, which lands overnight and has to be right by the morning.
  • Card payments, integrated end to end.
  • The data work underneath all of it: what a shop sells, what it wastes, and what that should have told somebody a week earlier.

Open roles

AI Data Engineer (Retail)

The data a shop generates all day, and what it should have told somebody a week earlier.

Remote, UK · Full time

What the job is

  • A supplier price file lands overnight and has to be correct by the time the shop opens: prices, promotions, new lines, pack sizes, costs and recalculated margins. You own that pipeline.
  • Every till writes sales, sessions, waste, refusals and stock movements. Turning that into something an owner can act on — what is not selling, what is being lost, what to order — is the job.
  • Forecasting and anomaly work on real retail data: shrink, dead stock, a category quietly losing margin, a shift that does not balance.
  • Multi-site: the same questions asked across twenty shops at once, from one back office.

What we are looking for

  • You have worked with messy commercial data that somebody depends on daily, and you know the difference between a model that scores well and one that changes a decision.
  • SQL you can defend, Python, and enough engineering discipline to own a pipeline that fails loudly rather than quietly.
  • Retail experience is not required but it is worth a great deal here. If you have stood behind a counter, say so.

Senior Full Stack Engineer

The till on the counter and the back office behind it, end to end.

Remote, UK · Full time

What the job is

  • The point of sale itself: .NET, running on the counter, offline first, in a shop that cannot stop trading because the broadband did.
  • The web back office — purchase orders, stock, promotions, reporting — and the sync between it and every till in every shop.
  • Card payments, integrated end to end rather than bolted alongside.
  • You will ship to real shops and hear about it the same day, because the person who answers the phone sits next to you.

What we are looking for

  • Senior means you have owned something in production that other people relied on, and have the scars to show for it.
  • .NET and SQL Server across the stack, and comfort in a codebase that is older than your involvement in it.
  • You would rather make one screen fast for somebody with a queue than add a fifth way to do the same thing.

Both are remote and full time, anywhere in the UK. If you have worked in retail and can write software, or you have supported EPOS in shops and want to build it instead, write to us whether or not one of these fits. Those two backgrounds are the hardest to hire for and the most useful to have.

Selling it, rather than building it

If you already sell into UK shops — independently, or as an IT company or agency with retail clients — there is a separate arrangement rather than a job: £250 for every client who signs. The terms are on the partners page, in full, like everything else we price.
